Survivor Car Australia is a bi-monthly feature magazine dedicated to bringing unrestored Survivor cars to the forefront and give them the long overdue praise and appreciation that they richly deserve. It doesn’t matter if you are a one-eyed Holden enthusiast, a fanatical Ford fan, a Chrysler nut or a lover of any other make of old cars because when it comes to Survivor cars we are all brothers-in-arms, banded together in our appreciation for these unique cars. They’re only original once!

This supersized collectors issue of SCA magazine features some of the most amazing Survivors ever seen. First out of the stables for Issue 50 is the only Falcon GTHO Phase 3 with paint code C – painted Bold Blue, and because of that rare hue, it was dubbed ‘The Unicorn’. Factory fitted with a wind-back sunroof, cloth inserts and an 8-track stereo, we uncover the real story behind this legendary GTHO.
We then cover the often forgotten HJ Monaro GTS coupe, however, this example is far from forgettable! Only 606 HJ GTS coupes were produced making it one of the rarest Monaros. This model often took a back seat to the more desirable HK-HQ Monaros but these days it stands on its own for desirability.
Less than half a dozen VH Chargers received the E48 Six-Pack engine option and of these, only two were R/T models and just one was exported to New Zealand. Early on, it had a hard life, but thankfully it received some overdue hugs and kisses. As that famous line from Running on Empty goes “Green is nice”. It certainly is, and some would argue it’s even nicer on a rare 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa Survivor. This beauty was awoken from a long slumber and now enjoys stretching its legs on the windy roads.
Buckle up for the XW Falcon GTHO Phase 2 in the eye-catching retina-burning hue of Brambles Red. It’s had a handful of careful custodians its whole life, and due to this, is referred to as the official reference car for XW Falcon GTHO restorers. Have you ever bought a raffle ticket in the hope of winning a car as the first prize? Well war veteran Reg King hit the jackpot when his raffle ticket was selected at the Central Coast Sports Club as the winner. His prize was a Papaya coloured LX Torana SS hatchback!
Tasmania is a small isolated island but is a perfect habitat for amazing Survivors like this VG Hemi Pacer, in none other than Hemi Orange, an absolute stand out! From the ready-to-race snake pit we have what is probably the lowest mile Bathurst Cobra hardtop Survivor in existence. We take you on a journey through this Survivor’s life from its birth at the Ford Broadmeadows factory to its current owner.
If you love Monaros that stand out, then we have a ripper Purr-Pull Monaro which has done quite a lot of ‘pulling’, towing a caravan around Australia. It’s a real ‘I’ve been everywhere man’ Survivor car. Another beauty from the Mopar stable is a superb VJ Charger Sportsman owned by comedian and Charger tragic, Tim Smith.
As many of you would know, we got some Australian delivered American muscle cars and we feature two crackers. From the general, we have a low mile 1969 Camaro Z/28 and from the blue oval, a super-low mile 1969 Mustang Mach 1 Big Block, both magnificent looking cars.
